During peak summer, even the evenings can get grossly humid. It’s almost like the air doesn’t move. Your dog will still need a walk, but keep it short, stick to shaded areas, and always carry water for both of you.
Where You Live in UAE Really Matters
New dog owner in UAE might not get it at first but where you live really matters for the overall wellbeing of your dog. Because not all neighborhoods are made equal for dog owners.
If you’re renting or house-hunting, look for places that are genuinely pet-friendly not just “we allow pets but don’t really want them” vibes.
There are very few but some dog-favorite areas in UAE:
- JVC (Jumeirah Village Circle): Affordable, decent green spaces, lots of dog owners.
- The Greens: Mature community, walkable, and fairly relaxed.
- Dubai Hills: Spacious, modern, and very pet-accommodating.
- The Views & Motor City: Known for greenery and dog-walking-friendly layouts.
- The Sustainable City: Probably the gold standard. Fully dog-friendly, large dog parks, even organic treats if you’re that kind of parent.
Word to the wise new owner of dog in UAE:
Always double-check with landlords or agents even if a place is technically pet-friendly. Some buildings still have weird restrictions (and some neighbors can be… well, not dog people).
Dog Walking Rules & Etiquette in UAE
New dog owner in UAE, listen up! You must follow certain rules when out in public with your furry friend. Here’s the deal with dog-walking in public:
1. Leash Up Your Dog:
Always leash up your dog in the UAE. It’s not just a courtesy thing, it’s the law. Fines are real, and if someone accuses your dog of aggressive behavior (even falsely), things can get serious fast. Like “authorities may euthanize your dog” serious.
So… yeah. Keep the leash on.
2. Clean After Your Dog:
Going out with your dog is not only all fun! Being a new dog owner in UAE, you must practice to clean up religiously. Picking up poop is non-negotiable. Carry those bags like they’re luxury items.

Technically, dogs shouldn’t relieve themselves on sidewalks or in front of shops. Find grassy patches or quieter corners and clean up immediately. No one wants to be that neighbor.
4. Avoid Major Tourist Areas:

Being a dog parent in Dubai for years, I still run short of places I can take them. Because I once took them to a beach and it didn’t go well. Most public beaches in UAE are a no-dog zone unless it’s a specific pet event or private beach club that allows them.
Kite Beach? Off-limits.
Secret beach? Also, a no.

Dog meetups in UAE can be tricky here. While you will find plenty of old and new dog owners in UAE, not everyone is open to socializing. Some dog owners in UAE are super selective and won’t let their dogs interact even if yours is being perfectly sweet. (Very Dubai behavior, honestly.)
